- Scope and content:
- The collection includes juridical, scholar and ecclesiastical documents which belonged to the lawyer Elek Böszörményi from Satu Mare. It includes records concerning the Calvinist gymnasiums and high schools in Satu Mare and Sighetu Marmaţiei, wills, financial documents, contracts, accounting registers, school registers and catalogues, lists of expenses, documents concerning bankruptcies, debts, real estate and divorce trials. Many of Böszörményi’s clients were Jewish and their trials appear for example in the following files: file 26/1838 concerning the credits accorded by Samuel Blum, file 35/1846 concerning the ownership of Salamon Klein of an orchard in Carei, file 41/1849 of a trial of the orphans of Jakob Herskovits against the Financial Prosecutor’s Office in Pest, file 55/1852 of the divorce case of Salamon Spitz.

- The collection was in custody of the County Library in Satu Mare. It was transferred to the Romanian National Archives, Directorate of Satu Mare County, in 1992.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Elek Böszörményi was a lawyer in Satu Mare, curate of the local Calvinist church, member of the County council and president of the lawyer’s bar. He administrated the properties and managed the juridical issues of the scholar and church institutions of his religious denomination for more than a half a century. He was married to Jolán Jármy (born in 1835) and died in 1894.
