- Scope and content:
- This memorial collection includes the personal archives of political and public figures, participants in various wars and workers in the economy, science, culture and sport, as well as various organisations and associations operating in the territory of Omsk and the Omsk region from the beginning of the 20th century until the present day. Personal collections include biographical documents, materials on professional activities, award documents, memoirs, correspondence, scientific papers, literary works and visual objects including photos and drawings. The content of the collection is ambiguous; documents often clearly reflect only work and social activities. Jewish-related materials include professional papers, autobiographies, certificates and patents as well as individual and group photographs: L.I. Berzhminsky, an employee of the Omsk tire factory; meteorologist K.I. Kachko; mechanical engineer M.M. London; combiner M.D. Mannik; photojournalist G.M. Marder; Omsk radio announcer K.D. Rabinovich; engineer I.N. Radzilowski; director of Sibzavod G.I. Eydelson; World War II participant Y.A. Epelbaum; and writer M.K. Yurasova (Ioffe). Special attention should be given to the archive of the Leifer family: in addition to official documents (certificates and documents relating to the professional activity of the original owner E.Y. Leifer, a teacher, brochures, leaflets and family photos in the archive) there are memories of Yakov Lazarevich Leifer, "A brief biography of three generations of the Leifer family" (1874-1954). The author describes the inner life of the Jewish community, in particular the development of the cultural life of the community, including the organisation of libraries, societies and cultural and educational events.
- Archival history:
- Acquisition of personal collections began in 1946 with the advent of the archive of Professor P.L. Dravert in the museum and was actively conducted in the 1960s and 1970s. In the late 1980s the collection of personal archives was stored separately from the collection of photographs and documents. Today the collection includes 305 personal archives, mainly of the Soviet period.
