- Administrative/biographical history:
- In November 1919 a provincial labour department was established at the Omsk provincial revolutionary committee of Omsk Province. On 16 February 1920 the labour department was merged with the Department of Social Security in one provincial department of labour and social security [gubsobes] at the provincial revolutionary committee. In January 1920 the provincial labour department formed labour offices in the counties, converted on 16 February 1920 into county departments of Labour and Social Welfare [uezdtrudsobes], which in July 1920 once again became the Department of Labour. At the end of 1920, with the abolition of the revolutionary committees, labour authorities became industry departments of the executive committees of provincial and district Soviets of Workers, Peasants and Red Army Deputies. Administration of local labour authorities was under the direction of the People's Commissariat and was carried out by the People's Commissariat of the Labour Commissioner in Siberia [Sibtrud]. With the change in the administrative division and the abolition of provinces and districts in September 1924 the county departments and later (in May 1925) the provincial labour departments were abolished and their functions transferred to the district authorities. After the end of the provincial labour department, the Omsk District Chamber of Labour Inspectors [OKIT] was formed in May 1925. It was abolished in August 1930 with the elimination of the district. In May 1931, the labour inspectorate was converted into the labour department of the City Council of Workers, Peasants and Red Army Deputies. On 23 June 1933 the labour authorities were universally abolished and their functions transferred to the trade union bodies. Omsk city labour department of the Omsk City Council West Siberian Territory in 1934 was renamed as the occupational health department at Omsk City Council of professional unions. With the formation of the Omsk region in 1935 the city council of professional unions was abolished and its responsibilities became part of the jurisdiction of the Omsk Regional Council of Professional Unions.
