- Administrative/biographical history:
- Finnish-Jewish musician Harry Emanuel Zwi Orvomaa (earlier Orscholick; 1927–1990) was one of the most successful Finnish record producers of the 1950s to 1970s. In 1955 he bought shares of Scandia-Musiikki Ltd and began to produce popular jazz records with prominent Finnish singers and musicians. He was also pioneering in producing records of Jewish music in Yiddish and Hebrew at the end of the 1960s. In his youth, Orvomaa had been an amateur jazz musician and started to collect early jazz records, especially New Orleans Jazz and Dixieland Jazz. In 1965 he was among the founding members of the Suomen äänitearkisto, the Finnish Institute for Recorded Sound.
