- Records of Hammersmith and West Kensington Synagogue including minutes of the Board of Management and Annual General Meetings; attendance books; minutes and papers of the Finance Committee; annual reports and accounts; financial records including those relating to membership; membership records including lists of seat holders and applications for membership; registers of authorisations of marriage; correspondence with other synagogues and relating to property; plans of Hebrew Education classroom; inventories of moveable property; magazine and newsletter produced by the synagogue; orders of service, invitations to events and other ephemera; photographs of officers and members. Also cuttings relating to the laying of the synagogue's foundation stone; published histories of the synagogue and minutes of the Hammersmith and West Kensington Jewish Board of Guardians Aid Society.
- Archival history:
- Originally deposited with Hammersmith and Fulham Archives and Local Studies in four deposits between 2001 and 2010; transferred to London Metropolitan Archives in 2015.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- By 1889 there was a need for a synagogue to serve the growing congregation of Jews in the western area of London. The project was initiated by prominent local business and professional men and, on 2 February 1890, the foundation stone was laid at a site in Brook Green. The Hammersmith and West Kensington Synagogue, which was affiliated to the United Synagogue, was consecrated on 7 September 1890.
