- Scope and content:
- This collection is for one of three public elementary schools for boys in Rădăuți. The collection contains only seven record books, three for 1918-19 and four for 1919-20. Reflecting the diversity of the town, the pupils come from a mixture of backgrounds, though the majority are German and Jewish. For example, in 1918 one third-grade class contained 52 pupils, of whom 32 were Jewish, 16 Roman Catholic, one Greek Catholic (Eastern Catholic) and three Protestant. Of these students, 48 claimed German as their mother tongue (all of the Jews, 13 of the Roman Catholics and three Protestants), two Hungarian, and one each Ruthenian (Ukrainian) and Polish.
- Archival history:
- The records were maintained by the school and collected by the Suceava branch of the National Archives after World War II and the restructuring of the school system by the communist regime.
