- Materials housed in the fond that pertain to Jewish history consist of copies of documents and extracts from the Archive of Ancient Official Documents of the City of Lwów and the Archive of Castle and Land Documents, in particular, materials on medieval Jewish trade in the city, and on a prohibition by which Jews were not to engage in the piecemeal sale of cloth (1488-92); on the establishment of “siege exactions” from the Jewish population of Lwów (1648); on Jews’ permission to bake and sell kosher bread in the city and suburbs (1671); on a prohibition against Jews joining guilds (1759); etc.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Łucja Charewicz (Charewiczowa) (1897-1943) was a Polish historian and archivist specializing in the history of Lwów. She studied first at the Jagiellonian University, then at the University of Lwów, where in 1924 she received her doctorate. She worked in the Archives of Lwów, researching the history of Polish cities and their development. In 1931, she became curator of the Historical Museum in Lwów, and from 1940 on, she served as the museum’s deputy director of research. In 1934 she was elected an honorary member of the history and philosophy section of the Lwów Scholarly Society. In 1935 she became a member of the historical commission of the Polish Academy of Arts, and in 1937, associate professor at the University of Lwów. She was the author of numerous works on the history of Lwów, including: Commerce in Medieval Lwów (1925), Restrictions on the Economic Rights of Orthodox Christians and Jews in Lwów in the 15th and 16th c. (1925), Professional Organizations of Lwów during the Partition of Poland (1929), The Historical Museum of the City of Lwów. A Guide (1936), and The Historiography and Veneration of Lwów (1938), etc.
