The Regional Zionist Organization of Eastern Galicia was founded in Lwów in 1920; in 1927 it was renamed the Regional Zionist Organization of Lwów. It operated in the territory of three voivodeships of interwar Poland: Lwów, Stanisławów, and Tarnopol. The main executive bodies of the organization were the regional Zionist conference (convened once annually), the executive committee, party council, party court, and local county committees. An independent regional representative of the World Zionist Organization (headquartered in London), the Regional Zionist Organization of Lwów took an active role in the political life of Poland. Its mission was to popularize the idea of the revival of Palestine among the Jewish population; support the activities of such Zionist organizations as the Keren Kayemet le-Yisrael Jewish National Fund, the Keren Hayesod Jewish Fund for the Restoration of Palestine, the Misrad Eretz Israel Palestine Bureau, and others; establish and support Zionist youth organizations; organize a system of cultural education and popularize Jewish national identity; fight for the equal rights of the Jewish ethnic minority in Poland; and take an active part in regional politics, and promote the campaigns of Zionists running for office in parliament and municipal government, and promote Zionist representation on various government bodies.
The Regional Zionist Organization of Lwów ceased operations in 1939 upon the Soviet annexation of Western Ukraine.
