Pertaining to Jewish history are charts of particular locales in Lemberg/Lwów/Lviv, including the Jewish quarter in the Krakow suburb (1796); the location of houses in the Jewish quarter between the city slaughterhouse and the Great Synagogue (1844); diagrams of the well on Jewish Square (pl. Żydowski; now Koliyivshchyny Square) (1844), and for the reconstruction of the Jakob Glanzer shul (synagogue) at Ugol’naia Street no. 3 (1912). There is also a map of Jerusalem (19th century); etc.
- Archival history:
- This collection began to be created in c. 1787 at the newly established Municipal Archive of the Lemberg Magistrate. In 1937, a collection of 317 archival storage units was transferred to the Lwów Archive of Ancient Official Documents. In 1939, the collection, together with other archival fonds, became part of the Central State Historical Archives of the Ukrainian SSR in L’vov/Lviv. The Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine in Lviv have supplemented the collection with materials from the Regional Archive of Cadastral Maps (Archiwum krajowe map katastralnych), which had been archived in the latter half of the 19th century, upon a streamlining of cadastral materials of Galicia, as well as with documents allocated to this collection during a re-inventory of the archive’s library fonds and the systematisation of other fonds.
