- Administrative/biographical history:
- The post of land commissar (Landkommissar) in Schowkwa (Żółkiew, Zhovkva) was established in August 1941 in connection with the replacement of the temporary military administration of the occupied territories with a civil administration. The land commissar headed the German occupation administration in the county (in German, the Bezirke) and was subordinate to the Office of the Lemberg Area Head (Kreishauptmannschaft Lemberg Land). It was liquidated in 1944 upon the liberation of Zhovkva county from German occupation.
