- This fonds includes: a statement by the board of the Warsaw Society of Friends of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, signed on behalf of the university by the prominent Polish-Jewish historian Prof. Moses Schorr, and calling for an exchange of scholarly publications between the university and the academy (1929); a directive of the Ministry of Religion and Education to administrators of higher educational institutions of Lwów that decisive measures be taken to prevent the recurrence of “bloody unrest” at educational institutions of Lwów; a communique by the rector of the Lwów Academy of Veterinary Medicine to the effect that the educational process at this institution was proceeding as usual, and a statement to the effect that no unrest would be tolerated on the academy’s premises (1935); correspondence between the rectors’ offices of the Academy of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Lwów on whether to approve the bylaws of the Jewish Student Circle of Local History Enthusiasts (an inter-university organisation of Lwów) – this is given a positive evaluation (1927); and on whether to approve the bylaws of the Society for the Construction of a Dormitory for Jewish Women Students in Lwów – this proposal is looked upon unfavourably, on the grounds that the organisation’s mission does not match its financial capabilities (1928); drafts of the bylaws of the Jewish Student Circle of Local History Enthusiasts and the Society for the Construction of a Dormitory for Jewish Women Students in Lwów; and the bylaws of the Emunah Student Youth Union (an inter-university association of Lwów) (1927).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Lwów Academy of Veterinary Medicine was established by decree of the Austrian emperor on 27 December 1880. It opened on 1 September 1881 as the Lwów Veterinary School. In 1897, it was reorganised as the Lwów Veterinary Academy, and on 12 December 1922 it was renamed the Lwów Academy of Veterinary Medicine (Polish: Akademja medycyny weterynarnej we Lwowie). On the eve of the Second World War, it had 17 departments. It was the basis of the L’vov/L’viv Veterinary Institute that was established in 1939.
