- The collection includes materials pertaining to Jewish history in the form of digital copies of documents from the Underground Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto (the Ringelblum-Archive). These may be provisionally divided into the following thematic groups: 1) Personal documents of Emanuel Ringelblum and members of his family, including letters, drawings, and photographs (1921/1939), Ringelblum’s handwritten journal (1940), etc. 2) Information on the situation of Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland, including a note by a girl from Nowe Lipki on the deportation of Jews from that city (undated); reports on the murder of Jews in the city of Slonim (with a description of the Soviet and German occupation; 1941); on the mortality rate among Jews after the establishment of the Warsaw ghetto (1941); on the death camps of Treblinka and Chelmno (1942); a survey by a representative of the London-based Polish government in exile on the fate of Polish Jewry (1942); lists of children deported from abroad to the Warsaw ghetto (undated); lists of Jews shot in April 1942; etc. 3) Printed and handwritten announcements of the Judenrat and Jewish police of the Warsaw ghetto forbidding Jews from leaving the territory of the ghetto without permission (1941); and stipulating punishment for refusal to wear a yellow armband (1942); a map (a printed copy) of the Warsaw ghetto (1940); etc. 4) Printed copies of appeals by a Jewish armed-resistance organization calling on Jews to resist the ghetto police’s efforts to organize the transport of Jews to the Treblinka death camp (1943). 5) Documents of individuals: testimonials, letters, and postcards containing descriptions of the deportation of Jews from various cities of Poland, including to the death camps in Bălţi (Romania), Auschwitz, etc. (1940/1942). 6) Printed materials from daily life in the Warsaw ghetto, in particular, tram tickets, food ration cards, Jews’ registration cards, etc. (1940/1943). 7) Photographs, drawings, and graphic artworks on the theme of the Warsaw ghetto, etc. (1940/1943).

- Along with materials about Frédéric Chopin and Nicolaus Copernicus, this collection contains documents from the Underground Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto, compiled by members of the group Oyneg Shabbos (translated from Yiddish, “Joy of the Sabbath”), led by historian Emanuel Ringelblum (1900/1944). Beginning in 1946, these documents were housed at the Jewish Historical Research Institute (Żydowski Instytut Historyczny, IH) in Warsaw. Some of them contain information about the Nazis’ destruction of the Jewish population in the territory of Belarus in 1941/1942. The collection was received by the National Historical Archive of the Republic of Belarus in 2003.
