- Housed in the fonds are draft versions of the beginning of an unfinished sketch by F. M. Reshetnikov titled “The Weekdays and Holidays of Iankel’ Furman and his Family,” which describes the life of several generations of a Jewish family of small traders (undated); and “Various Notes on Brest-Litovsk” (writings in pencil and ink on disparate sheets), which deals with the city’s Jewish community (undated). The fonds also has letters from P. I. Veinberg (1867 and undated) and N. A. Kormen (1864).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Fedor Mikhailovich Reshetnikov (1841-71) was a writer. He graduated from the Perm’ county school in 1859, then served as an official in Ekaterinburg and Perm’. In 1863 he moved to St. Petersburg, where in 1863-64 he worked at the Department of the Ministry of Finance. From 1867-70 he resided in the city of Brest-Litovsk, and in 1870 returned to St. Petersburg. His first published writings were articles and notices in the Perm’ Provincial Gazette (1861). His main works were “The People of Podlipnaia: An Ethnographic Sketch” (1864), “The Protégé” [“Stavlennik”] (1864), “Among People” (1865), “The Mineworkers” (1866), “The Glumovs” (1866), “Where Is Better?” (1868), and “One’s Own Bread” (1870).
