- Documents housed in the fonds include orders of the Bessarabia governor and the Chișinău [Kishinev] Area Police Inspectorate that records be kept on Jews; orders on the use of Jews in forced labour, on their deportation to ghettos and concentration camps, and punishments that were to be applied to them for refusing to work or escaping from camps, etc. (1941-42).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- These police entities were established in the territory of the Governorate of Bessarabia in July 1941. They were under the jurisdiction of the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs, and immediately subordinate to the Chișinău [Kishinev] Area Police Inspectorate. The ceased operations in August 1944 when units of the Red Army took control of the territory of Bessarabia.
