- Administrative/biographical history:
- This began operations in the territory of the county in March 1918 upon Romania’s annexation of Bessarabia; it was originally called the county gendarmerie company, and was a structural division of the Romanian paramilitary police. It was renamed the gendarmerie legion in March 1919. It was under the command of the Bessarabia Gendarmerie Corps, and in turn had oversight of operations of village gendarmerie sections and posts. It was disbanded in June 1940 upon Bessarabia’s annexation to the USSR.
