- Scope and content:
- Among documents housed in the fonds (op. 4) are materials of the recordkeeping sector of the Izmail Regional Committee of the Leninist Komsomol of Ukraine, and in particular, a statistical report on the ethnic makeup of the Leninist Komsomol of Ukraine for 1948, which includes data on the number of Jews in the Komsomol generally, and separately in each municipal and district organisation (with a breakdown by gender).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- This was formed in June 1940 as the Akkerman Regional Committee of the Leninist Komsomol [Communist Union of Youth] of Ukraine in connection with the establishment of the Akkerman region in the territory of Bessarabia annexed by the USSR at the time. On 7 December 1940, the region was renamed the Izmail region and became part of the Ukrainian SSR, with the administrative centre transferred to Izmail, whereupon this body renewed operations in that city as the Izmail Regional Committee of the Leninist Komsomol of Ukraine. It had oversight of municipal and district organisations of the Leninist Komsomol of Ukraine in the territory of the region, and was in turn subordinate to the central committee of the Komsomol of Ukraine. It suspended operations during the German-Romanian occupation (1941-44). It was dissolved in February 1954 upon the liquidation of the Izmail region and its merger with the Odessa region.
