- Included are statistical reports on the state of the school and (separately) on the school’s instruction in handicrafts (1910-15); minutes of sessions of the school’s pedagogic board for 1903-17; correspondence with the Kherson province director of schools and the Nikolaev Treasury on financial issues; records of teachers’ salary payments; lists of students; teacher personnel files; applications for admission to the school and vital-record documents appended to these; and programs for paid charity evening events to benefit the Committee to Aid Those Who Fight for the Motherland (1915).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- This was established in 1890 on the initiative of the trustee of the Odessa Educational District to replace the Nikolaev Talmud-Torah (closed in 1889). It was financed by korobka [kosher meat tax] funds and by the city budget (tuition was instituted in 1917). The school had a five-year curriculum, and it operated workshops in which students received training in various crafts. It was liquidated in 1920 in connection with a reorganisation of the education system.
