- Among materials housed in the fonds are articles by N. F. Komarnitskii and other authors for the newspaper Umans’ka zoria (1958-81), as well as bibliographic materials collected by the collection creator on the Jewish writer and literary scholar Peysi [Petyro] Al’tman (1904-41); a letter of B. Kvitko, widow of the Jewish poet Leyb Kvitko (1959); N. F. Komarnitskii’s correspondence with the Jewish writer G. I. Polianker (1911-97), which contains, among other things, information on the latter’s creative plans (1961-74, 1977-82); etc.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Nikolai Fedorovich Komarnitskii (1899-1984) was an archivist, journalist, and researcher of local history. He was born in the town of Tripol’e (Kiev county, Kiev province) (now a village in the Obukhiv/Obukhov district, Kyiv/Kiev region). From 1918-19, he studied at the Kiev University department of physics and mathematics, and later worked in institutions and organisations of the city of Uman’. He was a veteran of the Second World War. From 1946-59 he worked in journalism, in the editorial office of the newspaper Umans’ka zoria. He took part in preparing many local-historical publications, literature indexes, and catalogues on subjects connected with the history of the Uman’ region.
