- Materials housed in the fonds include a 1925-26 plan for Jews to resettle and subsequently transition to agriculture in the Shevchenko area; minutes of a general assembly (9 June 1930) of the party cell of a Jewish national commune [evnatskommuna] on the state of the commune; a brief description of the political and economic condition of the Zlatopol’ district (20 January 1931), containing information on the size of the Jewish rural population, on the Zlatopol’ Jewish Settlement Council and the Jewish national commune Luchi Oktiabria [Rays of October]; correspondence with the Shevchenko Area Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine on working among the Jewish population; materials on conducting an anti-religious cultural campaign [kul’tpokhod] in the Shevchenko area and Zlatopol’ (from 25 September through 25 October 1929); etc.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- This was formed in 1923 following the establishment of the Zlatopol’ district. Originally it was subordinate to the Shevchenko (until 1927, the Cherkassy) Area Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine; from September 1930 to February 1932, it was immediately subordinate to the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine, then to the Kiev Regional Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine; from January 1939, to the Kirovograd Regional Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine; and from January 1954, to the Cherkassy Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine. It was dissolved in connection with the liquidation of the Zlatopol’ district in November 1959.
