- Administrative/biographical history:
- Established in every “reception place” (there could be no more than three, besides the provincial seat), these offices functioned pursuant to the Recruitment Charter [Rekrutskii ustav], were immediately subordinate to the Provincial Recruit Office, and were in charge of all issues pertaining to the organisation of recruitment within the counties under their jurisdiction. They consisted of two county marshals of the nobility, the county seat administrator [gorodnichii], a military inspector, and a medical official; and were chaired by the higher-ranking of the marshals of the nobility. They were liquidated in 1874, and replaced by county conscription offices.
