- Among documents housed in the fonds are instructions of the Kiev Provincial Administration on administering oaths to Jews during elections to various public offices “in places of their allowed settlement,” and on providing information on this subject (1860); a file on the election of a deputy from the Jewish population of Cherkassy to the housing commission, including a copy of a Senate edict (19 December 1862) ratifying a decree of the Committee on Organizing the Jews, and the Jewish oath form (1863); an official list of M. L. Kremenetskii, the commission’s deputy from the Jewish townspeople of the city of Cherkassy (1864); etc.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- This was a body of the Cherkassy County Police Commission. It handled issues regarding quartering military units, leasing accommodations for offices, setting and collecting rent, etc. It consisted of the county seat administrator [gorodnichii] (who was its chair), a clerk, and three elected deputies: one from the nobility, one from Christian merchants and townspeople [meshchane], and one from Jewish merchants and townspeople.
