Scope and content:: Among documents housed in the fonds are minutes of sessions of district electoral commissions and alphabetical lists of voters (including Jews) entitled to take part in elections of duma councillors, by electoral district; lists of persons put forward as candidates for Uman’ Municipal Duma councillor, with personal data on candidates from a number of political parties, associations, and labour unions, including from the socialist bloc (the Russian Social Democratic Workers’ Party [RSDRP], the Bund, and the United Jewish Socialist Workers’ Party [OESRP]), Zionist organisations, and the Uman’ Society of Craftsmen.

Administrative/biographical history:: This was established pursuant to the City Statute (1870) as the executive body of the Uman’ Municipal Duma. It was in charge of day-to-day affairs of city administration; drawing up budgets; levying and disbursing city taxes; etc. It was headed by a mayor, who at the same time chaired the municipal duma. It was liquidated in 1919.
