- Among materials housed (op. 1) are records on kahals, synagogues, Jewish houses of worship, schools, and Jewish farmers in the towns of Klevan’, Aleksandriia, Derazhnoe, and the village of Mochul’ki (1859-62); statistical data on the number of births, marriages, and deaths among Jews for 1862, and on the number of the district’s residents listed by estate and religious confession for 1863; correspondence on conscription call-ups in Rovno county (1868-76), including on the flight of Jewish recruits and the election of agents in the Goringrod Jewish thousand-man recruitment district; on the search for Jews evading conscription; etc.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The office of the district chief [stanovoi pristav], who headed a stan, an administrative district consisting of several volosti [rural areas], was established in 1837 (and dissolved in 1917). District chiefs of Rovno county answered to the Rovno county police chief [ispravnik] and to the county zemstvo court (from 1862, to the county police administration). From 1878, district chiefs had the command of police constables.
