- Scope and content:
- Housed in the fonds are materials pertaining to the Jewish drama collective Maiak [The Beacon] (minutes of the collective’s organising assembly, and its charter and a list of its members). There is also fragmentary information on the Novograd-Volhynskii Jewish Theatrical Troupe and its conflict with the head of the local repertoire committee.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Established in 1923-25, area labour union committees and departments comprised members of industry-sectoral labour unions in the territory under their jurisdiction and directed their organisational and “cultural work among the masses” [kul’tmassovaia rabota]. They were subordinate to corresponding (Volhynia and Berdichev) Area Councils of Labor Unions. They were dissolved in 1930 in connection with the liquidation of areas.
