- Included are manuscripts of the author’s translations from the Bible (The Book of Psalms; The Song of Songs) (1860s-70s).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Ukrainian cultural and public figure, poet, and translator Alekandr Aleksandrovich Navrotskii (1823-92) was born the village of Antipovka (Zolotonosha county, Poltava province; now in the Zolotonosha district, Cherkassy/Cherkasy region). He was a participant in activities of the Brotherhood of Cyril and Methodius; when this organisation was crushed in 1847, he was arrested and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and exile in the Viatka region. He worked in the state service after 1853 (in the office of the governor-general of Dagestan, the revenue chamber, etc.). He authored numerous translations (mostly unpublished and preserved in manuscript form) from Western European and Eastern languages. He died in the city of Temir-Khan-Shura (now Buinaksk, a district centre of the Russian Federation’s Republic of Dagestan).
