- Documents housed in the fond include inspection certificates of the region’s schools; information, reports, and memoranda of inspectors of the Kiev Regional and District education departments on the operations and condition of Jewish schools, and in particular on the fact that sending Jewish children to these schools was mandatory; excerpts from minutes of sessions of district executive committees of the Kiev region on establishing Jewish classes in Ukrainian secondary schools and on merging Jewish schools with same (on the condition that the mandatory language of instruction for Jewish children was to be Yiddish); lists and descriptions of Jewish schools and their teachers; lists of kolkhoz institutions and “red corners”; expense budgets for the maintenance of the Zhitomir Jewish Pedagogical Technicum for 1933-34; etc.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- This was formed in 1932. It had oversight of the operations of educational and cultural-educational institutions in the territory of the Kiev region. It answered to the Kiev Regional Executive Committee; and at present is under the jurisdiction of the Kyiv/Kiev Regional State Administration.
