Scope and content:: Included are materials on the construction, repair, and reconstruction of buildings belonging to Jewish communities and to private individuals: synagogues in Sarny, Skvira, Tripol’e, Chernobyl’; and houses of worship and synagogues in Belaia Tserkov’, Berdichev, Pavoloch’, Shpola, Radomysl’, and Zvenigorodka; materials on and schematics for the Berdichev Jewish Community’s construction of wooden butcher shops on community-owned plots; materials on the demolition of Jewish homes located near a church in Berdichev; etc.

Administrative/biographical history:: The Kiev Provincial Construction and Road Commission was established in 1849 via a merger of the Kiev Provincial Construction Commission and the Kiev Provincial Road Commission. It was under the jurisdiction of the Main Communications and Public Buildings Administration, and had oversight of the construction of buildings, bridges, and roads within the Kiev province, and of the condition of monuments. It also issued permits to build or repair buildings. It existed until 1859, when it was reorganised as the construction department of the Kiev Provincial Administration.
