- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Kiev Provincial Statistics Committee was established in 1835 pursuant to rules on statistics committees adopted 20 December 1834. Under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it answered specifically to the Central Statistics Committee in St. Petersburg. It collected and analysed statistical information provided by provincial, county, and volost’ [rural area] institutions on the state of the economy and population size; prepared statistical appendices to governors’ reports; and published statistical descriptions of the Kiev province. It was liquidated in March 1919.
