- Among documents housed are court files on Jews converting to Christianity; Jews accused of converting minor children from Christianity back to Judaism; Jews being taken into custody for being without residency permits; Jews causing themselves bodily harm in order to evade the draft; etc.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Established pursuant to the Regulation on the Provinces (1775), the Kiev Conscience Court heard civil cases involving arbitration procedures and certain minor crimes (involving minors, persons of unsound mind, persons without residency permits, witchcraft, etc.). It consisted of a judge elected from among the local gentry and six associate judges. It was liquidated in 1864.
