- Materials housed include an undated tape recording of twenty-six poems in Yiddish by the Jewish poet Shloyme Cherniavskii (“Babi Yar,” “Wealth,” “On the Way,” etc.) and a significant quantity of phonograph records of Jewish folk music and songs (mainly in Yiddish) as adapted by L. Gol’dfaden, S. Ia. Berdovskaia, M. Ia. Beregovskii, Ia. P. Tabachnikov, E. P. Sheinin, and others. Digitised re-recordings from wax sound cylinders held at the V. I. Vernads’kyi National Library of Ukraine include a whole set of Hasidic melodies, fragments of Jewish folk performances, traditional wedding ceremonies, Purim-spiels, synagogue liturgies, musical works from the repertoire of the famous klezmer musician Pedotser [Avraham Kholodenko of Berdichev (1828-1902)], and a brief salutation by Sholom Aleichem to the Jewish Historical-Ethnographic Museum in St. Petersburg (1914).
