- Administrative/biographical history:
- This was established as part of the Ukrainian government under the Hetmanate of P. P. Skoropads’kii in May 1918. On 21 June 1918, it was reorganised as the Ministry of Education and the Arts. It oversaw the activities of higher, secondary, professional, and elementary educational institutions of Ukraine, including Jewish ones, of which a considerable number existed thanks to the relative political and economic stability that characterized most of the Hetmanate period. It ceased operations after the December 1918 coup that brought the Directorate government to power.
