- The collection includes excerpts from official document registers, and decrees of castle and land courts and of city halls in Polish, Hebrew, Yiddish, Latin, Russian and Old Ukrainian, on commercial transactions between Christians and Jews, and on Jews’ rental of estates and inns; Jews’ complaints regarding nonpayment of monetary debts on the part of Christians; manuscript fragments of Jewish religious texts; article fragments on Yiddish-language literature; etc.
- Archival history:
- This collection was formed at the Ukrainian SSR Central State Historical Archive in the late 1940s-early 1950s from documents of scattered fonds of the Kiev Central Archive of Ancient Records that escaped destruction when that institution was blown up in 1943. The collection was subsequently supplemented with photocopies of particular thematically-related materials housed in other archives of the former USSR and Poland.
