Scope and content:: Documents housed in this fond include orders of the Southwestern front armies’ commissary forbidding Jewish enlisted men to supervise bread-baking in the city of L’vov or to guard institutions that prepared food items for the troops; lists of Jewish enlisted men serving in various units of the Southwestern front; correspondence of the head of the headquarters of the military governor of Galicia, the commandant of the city of L’vov, the head of the Galician temporary governor-general’s gendarmerie, and other officials on arrests and hostage-takings of Jews; on removing the Jewish population from the frontline zone to interior provinces of Russia; on pogroms and plundering of the Jewish population perpetrated by Russian troops; and on the attitude of the Jewish population of Galicia toward the Russian administration and army; complaints and requests of the Jewish population for compensation of damages caused by troops; minutes of questionings of pogrom victims; information on the confiscation of property from the Jewish population of Galicia by order of Russian Army officers; lists of Jews expelled from Galicia to the Khar’kov province and of Jewish hostages; etc.
