Scope and content:: Included in the fond are alphabetical lists of books prohibited from circulation, including Jewish ones; materials on the introduction of legal restrictions pertaining to Jews (correspondence on the introduction of a statute on administrative actions vis-à-vis schismatics [raskol’niki] and persons of non-Orthodox confessions; on removing foreign subjects and persons of the Judaic confession from positions as stock brokers; etc.); materials on anti-Jewish pogroms (in particular, on measures taken to prevent a pogrom in the city of Nikolaev, and on the spread of rumours of a pogrom in Odessa; etc.). There are also evaluations of people put forward as candidates for crown rabbi positions in the cities of Nikolaev and Dubossara; a search order for the townsperson G. A. Rabinovich (town of Iustingrad, Lipovets county, Kiev province), a Hasidic rebbe who had escaped from custody; an order to ascertain the activities in Nikolaev of the pro-Palestine circle Ḥibat Tsiyon, which was collecting donations toward Jewish settlement of Palestine; an order to provide information to the temporary governor-general of Odessa on foreign Jews coming to Nikolaev to buy and export grain; etc.
