- Among materials housed in the fond are files on criminal and civil cases involving Jews: on the seizure of property of Jews who had gone bankrupt; on contract violations; on the robbery and murder of a Jewish merchant on a road; on the detention of “Polish Jews” at a border outpost for attempting to secretly transport Russian goods and money over the border; and cases pertaining to interfaith relations, e.g., the case of Kremenchug townspeople accused of abducting the wife of a retired corporal and “turning her away from the Christian faith” (the accused were this woman’s Jewish parents and another son-in-law of theirs). There is also scattered information on the Jewish population of cities and Jews’ participation in city self-government: on certain Jewish inhabitants of Kremenchug who, along with other “eminent citizens,” had signed a list of persons running for mayor; etc.
