- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first record of the municipality of Roztoky dates back to 1233. From the 17th century until 1803 the municipality was owned by the Liechtensteins. In 1848, an independent municipality was established. The municipality was headed by the mayor, the municipal board, and the elected municipal committee. From 1865, the municipality was under the authority of the mixed district office of Smíchov. In 1868, the district office became the Smíchov district governor's office. After 1927, the municipality was part of the political district of Praha-venkov. The municipality was promoted to a town in 1943. In 1945, a death transport passed through Roztoky. During a several-hour stop, the municipality inhabitants managed to feed about 4,000 prisoners, 90 patients remained in the local poorhouse and about 320 prisoners managed to escape. Ten victims of the transport are buried in Levý Hradec.
