- The fonds contains documents of the Říčany town administration. It contains deeds, official books, file material, and accounting material. In general, trade agenda documents and religious and school affairs are relevant to the history of Jews. Jews are explicitly mentioned in inv. no. 264 Population (instructions, records, reports, Jews) 1921-1945; inv. no. 348 Church property (church buildings, patronage, Jewish prayer house, Hus congregation) 1927-1942.
- Archival history:
- The oldest documents have not been preserved. There is a report on the town archive from 1738. The documents were stored at the town hall. During the reconstructions of the town hall and the relocations, part of them was destroyed and later they were moved to the town museum. In 1955, the archive material was moved to the Říčany district archives. In 1960, the Říčany district was abolished and the town became part of the new district of Praha-východ. The material was moved to the district archives of Praha-východ. It was organised in 1969 and an inventory was also made. The fonds was again inventoried in 2015-2016.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The earliest record of Říčany dates from 1309. Until 1850, it was the property of the Liechtensteins. The self-governing body was a 12-member municipal council headed by the mayor. In 1849, the town council became the municipal council headed by the mayor. Říčany was a judicial district (1850-1945) and fell under various political districts. From 1935, the town was administered by commissioners instead of mayors. The municipal office in Říčany ceased to exist in May 1945, when its powers were taken over by the Revolutionary National Committee.
