- Archival history:
- Due to the administrative development of the vicariate, almost a third of the fonds consists of material that does not directly concern Nymburk. The Vicariate archive has been preserved in fragments since the 1710s. The original material of the Vicariate Office was taken over by the State District Archives Nymburk in 1960. The fonds was organised and provided with an inventory in 2006-2007.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Vicariate offices in the Prague archdiocese were established in 1631 at the initiative of the Archbishop Cardinal Arnošt Vojtěch of Harrach. They were to replace the already dysfunctional network of deans' offices. The existence of the Nymburk Vicariate ended in 1952, when it was incorporated into the Mladá Boleslav Vicariate. The main task of the vicars was to supervise the functioning of the lowest church administration. They supervised priests in the form of regular visits.

- System of arrangement:
- The vicariate archive has been preserved in fragment since the 1710s. The files of the vicariate's office were divided into large thematic units. Before 1832, there were only indications of the classification of the files into thematic groups. The pre-1832 and post-1855 materials were arranged thematically, the file handling from 1832-1855 being divided into 11 thematic groups.
