- Scope and content:
- Information on Jewish enterprises can be found mainly in the files of enterprises, the owners of which were members of the Central Union of Czechoslovak Industry. These can be found at the end of the fonds. The files contain the following information, in particular: name of the company, date of application, type of production, registered office, a note on nationalisation if applicable, etc. The file material of the fonds includes organisational and personnel materials, reports on activities and management, minutes of meetings, circulars, situation reports on the state of industry, reports on the economic situation in the Czechoslovak Republic and abroad, materials on the trade policy of the Czechoslovak Republic and its exports and imports, trade with foreign countries, supervision of cartels, etc. The largest part of the fonds comes from the period after 1945.
- Archival history:
- The fonds was taken over in 1953 by the then State Central Archives from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Heavy Engineering. The internal appraisal of the fonds was carried out in 1955. The fonds is probably incomplete, but the extent of likely losses cannot be determined, as registry finding aids are almost inexistent. The fonds was organised and inventoried in 1961-1964. In 1978, the additions, which accumulated during the processing of other fonds, were processed.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Central Union of Czech Industrialists was established in 1918. It was a self-governing Czech-nationality organisation with the task of uniting Czech industrialists. After the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic, it changed into a nationwide organisation - the Central Union of Czechoslovak Industrialists. The German industrialists in the Czechoslovak Republic had their own union, which later merged with the Central Union of Czechoslovak Industry. In November 1939, it was transformed into the Central Union of Industry for Bohemia and Moravia, operating on the principle of compulsory membership and being an important tool of the controlled economy. In 1945, it was transformed into the Central Union of Czechoslovak Industry. It was abolished in 1950.
