- Administrative/biographical history:
- The beginning of the Jewish settlement in Votice dates back to the 15th century. In the 16th century there was already a prayer school and a cemetery. The Jews were engaged in trade there. There was also a synagogue, repeatedly rebuilt after fires, most recently in the 18th century. In 1852, 89 families lived here. In 1864, a new school building was opened. From 1872, Bedřich Arnstein established a second school, as a result of a dispute in the municipality due to the progressiveness of Arnstein's views. The schools were later reunited, and when in 1878 the school acquired the right to teach the public, there were over 120 pupils. From the school year 1898/1900 the school taught in Czech. In 1905, the school was abolished and turned into apartments.
