- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents of the Bechyně District Court from the years (1849) 1850-1949 concerning the civil and criminal agendas, as well as the agenda for the establishment of new land registers. Information on Jews can be found in expropriation documents ordered by the Gestapo during the Nazi occupation, and the inheritance agenda (file No D) of Jews perished in WW II in concentration camps dealt with in 1946.
- Archival history:
- The documents of the fonds were taken over from the Archives of the Ministry of the Interior in Prague in 1938-1941, from where they were transferred to the State Archives in Třeboň in 1949-1951. The other registry of the abolished court passed in 1960 to the District Court in České Budějovice. From there, these documents were taken over in 1961 by the District Archives in Tábor. Gradually, it also took over the documents of the District Court in Bechyně from 1850-1897, which had been until then stored in the State Archives in Třeboň.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The activities of the District Court in Bechyně began on 27 May 1850 and was included in the district of the Regional Court in Tábor. In 1855-1868, the so-called mixed district office was established (political and judicial agenda). In 1868, this mixed district office was abolished and only the district court remained in Bechyně. The seat of the district office was again transferred to Milevsko. This situation remained virtually unchanged until January 29, 1949, when the District Court in Bechyně was abolished.
