- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents of the self-government of the town of Mirotice, deeds, books, file material, and accounting material. Information on Jews can be found primarily in records about the population of the town. Several books of domestic and foreign members of the community with alphabetical indexes, population registers, or records of domicile right in files and the 1869 census have been preserved. The fonds contains small files on the activities of the Jewish school (box 253, number V/1).
- Archival history:
- The documents of the Mirotic Office were only systematically looked after with the introduction of the regulated municipality in 1792. Since then, they were stored in a chest and a closet at the town hall. A simple chronological method of organising the documents was used. Registry handling differed in individual handling periods and for some agendas the file system was not followed. The first organising work occurred in 1937-1938. Further processing of the fonds took place in the 1950s. A complete inventory of the fonds was completed in 1990.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Mirotice was founded by the monarch at the turn of the 14th century as a royal town. Until 1792, the town was headed by the town council, which was subsequently replaced by the regulated municipal office. In 1832, the Vogt's office was established in Mirotice instead of the municipal office. In 1850, Mirotice became an independent municipality with its own town office. In May 1945, the town office ceased to exist and the local national committee was established. The Jewish minority was most numerous in the second half of the 19th century and was concentrated in two residential districts.
