- Archival history:
- Until the modern times, the documents were probably stored in a chest at the town hall. At the beginning of the 18th century, mainly town books were stored in a cupboard in the scribe's office. At the end of the first half of the 20th century, the documents were stored in the town museum. The fonds was transferred from the Pacov District Archives to the Pelhřimov District Archives.
- Administrative/biographical history:
-
The first dated report on Pacov is from the year of 1316. It belonged to the non-royal towns, where various secular lords and later also ecclesiastical ones took turns. A regulated municipality was established there in 1795. The municipal self-governing office was established after the 1850 reforms.
In 1570, a Jewish family is mentioned in the provincial tax register. In 1680, a cemetery was established there. The organised Jewish community was documented only in the 18th century, 18 families living there in 1793. They were mostly merchants, but there was also a winemaker, a potash maker, a teacher, a synagogue cantor, and a kosher butcher. The local Jews lived in reserved houses bearing Roman numbers I-X in several locations.
