- Archival history:
- From Hořepník town hall the documents were transferred to the Pacov District Archives. After the establishment of the Pelhřimov District Archives, the fonds was transferred to its seat in the castle of Červená Řečice. In 1976, the oldest town book was taken over from the Třeboň State Regional Archives and 20 town books from the branch in Jindřichův Hradec.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first record of Hořepník dates from 1252 and in 1299 it is mentioned as a town. Due to lack of funds, no regulated municipality office was established in the town. The town was called a protective one, i.e. it was relatively free. In 1636, a Jewish cemetery is documented in the written sources. Since the 17th century, an organised Jewish community had been mentioned there, which was annexed to Pacov in 1920. The self-government functioned only after the 1850 reforms. The local Jewish community disappeared at the beginning of the 20th century, so the synagogue fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1938–1945.
