- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Mandelík family was one of the largest and oldest Jewish families in Hroubovice. Hroubovice was the centre of the Jewish community in the area – there was a synagogue, a school and the seat of a religious community. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Jewish families made up almost half of the municipality's population. The Mandelíks ran shops, shoe production and expanded to a nearby town, Skuteč, where they also established a shoe factory. Members of various branches of the large family lived there until World War II. The old couple survived the Shoah in Terezín and after the war they returned to Hroubovice and lived there until their death.
