Most of the photographs were taken by Josef Kliment, principal of the elementary school, and bookseller Gustav Dvořák from Havlíčkův Brod. The earliest postcards of the town of Havlíčkův Brod and its surroundings are stored in two albums, then a photo of the Bechyně family from Lažany with a description of the family and photos from the Hašek Lipnice festival from 1960-1985. There is a unique album of photographs of a slum colony from the period of the First World War. These are photos of the slum colony, residential houses and their construction, as well as photographs of Jewish refugees - from their arrival in the town and from the colony. There are also photographs of a wedding of Jewish refugees in the colony, a feast at the bust of the Emperor in the colony, the entrance to the colony, the kitchen, disinfection, water supply, Ruthenians, and the cemetery for refugees. The album is unauthorised and photographs are also stored in the Jewish Museum in Prague. Part is stored in the Museum of Vysočina in Havlíčkův Brod.
- Archival history:
- The collection of photographs was taken from the town museum of Havlíčkův Brod in 1959.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The origin of the town museum is considered to be in 1874, when a museum association was founded. A museum affiliated with the town schools was soon established and collecting activities began. At the turn of the 20th century, the museum focused on collecting regional relics and relics associated with the name of Karel Havlíček Borovský. At the same time, it carried out research activities concerning the history of the town and documentation of events in the town and its surroundings. After 1945, its efforts were followed by the district archives in Havlíčkův Brod which took over part of the museum archive material.
