- Scope and content:
- This fonds is the most important church fonds of the Archives and contains mainly documents of the parish administration. Jewish affairs can be found in the Statement of Jihlava Jews 1861 and in the Protocol of Changes of Religion 1845-1940.
- Archival history:
- The documents were stored in the parish archives soon after the rectory was established. After 1591, when it became subject to the Strahov monastery, most of the documents were transferred to Strahov and today they are part of the fonds of the Strahov monastery, where other documents were also transferred. In 1951, closed registries and documents were handed over from the parish of Jihlava to the state archives in Telč, which are now stored in the archives in Brno. The remaining archival material was taken over by the district archives in Jihlava in 1960 and the fonds was processed in 1961.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- After the establishment of Nová Jihlava, on the site of the older church of St. John the Baptist a new church of St. Jacob grew up, where the parish from Stará Jihlava was transferred in 1257. The existing tithe villages of the old church were also subject of the new parish. The patronage of the parish was with the Želiv monastery and, from 1591, the Strahov monastery. In the 1520s, the parish office fell into the hands of the Protestants, who held it until the turn of the 17th century. The Roman Catholic parish office exists at this church even today.
- Subject terms:
- Jewish community
- System of arrangement:
- The fonds contains official, auxiliary and accounting books, and files. The original handling system was left for the pre-1869 files and the unsigned files were attached according to their content. The files from 1870 were arranged chronologically, except for more extensive subject groups. The accounting material since 1870 was organised as one inventory unit due to its small size. 11.74 linear meters have not been processed.
- Access, restrictions:
- The collection is partly accessible.
