- Scope and content:
- The fonds comprises official books and file material. The following records are relevant for Jewish history: Enlistment records 1850-1851, 1861-1864, 1866; List of trades 1856-1862; Presidium files: A report on the consent of the population to the issuance of the Imperial Patent of October 2, 1853 restricting the Jews' eligibility to hold real estate; A report on anti-Jewish incidents in Březnice on June 27, 1859; Decree of the District Office in Březnice of 20 December 1860, ordering the town council to take measures to prevent anti-Jewish excesses; Investigating the damage caused to several Jewish houses and recurring anti-Jewish provocations in 1861; A report on the possible lifting of the state of emergency in the Březnice district as there were no signs of hostility against the Jewish population in 1866.
- Archival history:
- In 1960, the fonds was taken over by the State District Archives in Příbram, where shredding, arranging and cataloguing of presidium files took place in 1973.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The district governor's office in Březnice was established in 1850 for the judicial districts of Březnice, Blatná and Mirovice, having political authority. In 1855, the governor's office was transformed into a district office for the Březnice district with mixed political and judicial powers. By order of the Minister of the Interior, the District Office of Březnice was abolished in 1868 and its administrative territory was incorporated into the newly established Blatná political district.
