- Archival history:
- The fonds was stored in Liptovský Mikuláš until the reorganisation of the public administration in 1923. A part of the fonds was transported to Levoča where it was made partially accessible and in 1954 it was returned to Liptovský Mikuláš. Within the new territorial reorganisation, the fonds was transferred to the State Archives in Bytča in 1960. The arrangement of the fonds was completed in 1984-1989 when an inventory was made.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- District offices (Szolgabírói hivatal) were established in 1849 as temporary offices of the public administration. A reorganization took place in 1850, and another in 1853. The district office was the lowest political-administrative unit and at the same time the first instance court in Liptov County. Liptovský Hrádok was the seat of the district office. It was headed by the chief officer who was helped by one or two officers. There was other staff in the office, too. The judicial agenda was handed over to district courts in 1871. The office supervised obedience to law, kept the agenda of taxes, fees, military affairs, and elections, being also the industrial supervision of the first instance. After the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic, the structure of the office remained unchanged until its dissolution in 1922.
