- Archival history:
- Since its establishment, the Office had been located in a building where files had been stored in unsuitable conditions. In 1943, the Office moved to a newly constructed building, and the files were deposited in a separate basement room. In 1948, an unprofessional appraisal was carried out, and no files have been preserved from the section of minor offences from 1923-1940. The fonds began to be processed in 1956. In 1960, it was transferred to the new seat of the Archives in Orlov. The fonds was inventoried there in 1961-1962.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Office was established in 1923 after a reorganisation of the public administration. It was headed by the district chief, who represented the office in public. The public authority was exercised by the district council, the number of its members depending on the size of the district, and by the district board. In 1939, the authority of the Office was limited and this situation lasted until 1945, when the Office was abolished.
